When you’re cruising through Edgartown on a pretty toasty and ocean breeze filled morning, there’s a sweet little spot to catch some R&R, coffee and of course have some eats that will surely put you you in a good place. Tucked in a nice nook of downtown Edgartown is one of Martha’s favorite places to grab a breakfast, lunch and/or simply sit patio side and sip on some mean lemonade while the world just seems to well, stroll on by. If you want a classy spot to take a date or nightly friend from before (whatever you have it) it’s definitely a great spot to do just that. The coffee is fresh as can be and the waitstaff, is nothing but spectacular. It might get a bit packed when the season is hopping, but well worth it. Rock out a crepe, take sometime to vibe the European touches and let the good times well, go on.

Martha Thanks You: Our First Year Rocking with You Guys - 2009 Recap!

Hey everybody! Right off the bat, we can’t believe that this Summer was as wild as it got. Whether you came out for a weekend, an entire Summer or have always been rocking the Vineyard, this was one to remember. We started WhatsUpMartha because as you well know, for way too long there was nobody looking out for the Gen-Y crowd here on Martha’s Vineyard and we’re pretty confident that we took care of that problem. What began in early June soon thereafter became something that we like to believe is a staple of the years to come and will grow to offer some of the greatest memories to be had and even grander parties to be thrown. Going through our Flickr page and checking out all the antics, laughs, concerts, parties and associating them with all the countless stories, it without doubt puts a smile on Martha’s face.

This year would not have been where it is, if it weren’t for you. We say you because that’s really what makes this website and company special, you you you. Otherwise it’s just some colors, text and photos on a computer. The turnout to our events was made possible by you, and the love of this island and everything that comes with it, is again a product of you guessed it, you. The support and enthusiasm we heard at every event or encounter with a fan, made it incredibly clear that we were doing our job. Letting you know…What’s Up?! There’s a lot more in store for next year and we’ll be expanding the brand to an undisclosed location, but sitting here, writing this, we really hope you stick with the brand, follow our moves and anticipate the return in 2010. Why? because life is sure as hell for living and well, we want you on board.

The What’s Up daily update will cease as of Today, October 17, 2009 right about 4 months since our initial Launch of WhatsUpMartha back in June. The website will remain up and our listings and overall content will be worked on over the Winter months and a few site-redesigns are in the works to make Martha that much better for next year.

Below, you’ll find some of our favorite pictures of the Season and we hope you can find at least a few that bring back one of those wild times here on Martha’s Vineyard and how great this place really is. Until next season, keep doing what you’re doing, and well yeah, we’ll handle the rest.

WhatsUpMartha 2009 ReCap:

Well it all began back on July 1, but we had our Launch Party back at The Dive Bar in Oak Bluffs and it sort of marked the beginning of WhatsUpMartha and it’s wild to think that all the pictures and memories below, ended up coming well after this night in July.

Colin & Newton (The one and only) hanging at the Barrington Levy concert which was by all means completely out of and and we loved it. If you were there that night, you sure as hell started to realize that the Summer crowd good vibes, party scene was here and ready to take the Vineyard by storm!

Yeah, you can check out this pic of the crowd rocking and it’s pretty damn clear that Martha’s Vineyard and the WhatsUpMartha crowd know how to throw dowm some serious cheers. Barrington Levy yet again, getting the night lit up!

Barrington Levy Concert with some lovely patrons that night, quite possibly the Staff guy at Nectars and really questioning the face that one guys is making. Martha can’t quite seem to figure that one out!

Oh my. Where to begin. The Silent Disco Party with WhatsUpMartha & Jack Wills. What honestly began as a thought soon if anything became arguably one of the craziest if not the craziest party on the island for the entire Summer. The picture above pretty much sums it up entirely! No comment, just living large!

The SeaFood Shanty UpStairs deck which never looked like that on a Wednesday (ever) until we came through. Still can’t believe they were turning people away at the door down stairs (Max capacity upstairs!) and for everyone that came out to support Martha & Jack thanks again. We’re pretty confident you guys had a blast!

The deadly duo in full force. We linked up with Jack Wills at the beginning of the Summer and it proved to be one of the best relationships we could put together on the island (aside from whatever antics you got yourself into!) and it was great for all of us to meet these guys and throw the best parties on the island!

Blame it on the harbor master, or whatever you have it, we couldn’t get the headphones to work at the Sand Bar but that didn’t really stop us from getting the party going. Still not sure which DJ took the glory of the victory, but we’ll have to admit that DJ Repko was throwing it down. (Have to root for the home team right?)

We ran into Mike Hall on a whim, and from what we remember, he was at the first Silent Disco, went nuts, had a blast and was eager to find out who was Martha and how he could be a part of the action. Well, what began soon turned into Mike being our first ever sponsored athlete and we’re happy to be having him on his way to Namibie Africa to compete in www.luderitz-speed.com It’s going to be a wild journey for him and we’re pumped to see him rock it and come back to Martha’s Vineyard next year. Good luck Mike!

Insane night. If you made it to this show, bravo. If you didn’t well, hope you made it to the after-party put together by Colin. Big ups to Colin and his connections because the geo dome just so happened to be the spot where Ghostface rolled up and we’ll cut the story right there and let your imagination do the rest. Sick night, wild time and of course, a WhatsUpMartha highlight.

There’s only a few entertainers/artists out there that can get a crowd this crazy and a huge applause for Nectar’s this year, putting together some insane acts for the Summer season and pumped they’re here to stay for next year!

We got in touch with RJD2 via Nectar’s and before we knew it, were talking with RJ via email and he was super up front, easy going and really willing to put that interview together for the site. Despite that guy shutting us down (huge miscommunication) it was a great spot to talk with him and for our first video interview, a new staple for the WhatsUpMartha brand.

You may or may not be into RJD2’s music, but honestly, there’s not much to dislike about it since the entire place at Nectar’s lit up like none other. People were going nuts, the bass and overall sound quality was out of control and here’s a guy jumping from turn table to turn table and mixing all like he was floating. Simply said, it was huge!

Martha’s Kite-Chaos ended up having to be a wakeboard gig, but it was still something that we’re glad we put on, saw some insane action on the rail, and tried something new for the island. It’s going to be in full force next year, twice as big (the event and rail) and we’ll be making sure you’re there to see it!

Not much to say here besides, Michael Jordan has nothing on Mike Hall. Not quite sure who runs the show in the air these days. Looking like Mike!

So that’s the Summer re-cap in pictures and captions. As you well know, there’s tons of more pictures to sift through on our Flickr page and we really wanted to capture the essence of the Summer here. We can’t believe how fast it all went by, but still, can’t go on without again thanking YOU for being here, being a part of this new brand on Martha’s Vineyard and wishing you all a Fantastic Fall, Winter and soon to see you in the Spring and Summer of 2010.

What a crazy Friday here on Martha’s Vineyard. Some of the ferries shut down today and the wind is kicking, the waves licking against some of the buildings in downtown Edgartown and everyone is in frenzy! The one good thing about all of this of course is, well it’s Friday. We’re already looking forward to holing up in a bar tonight, letting the wind howl outside and the goodness pour into yet another glass for Martha & Friends to rock out to. We have some news today, as this is the last day of the daily What’s Up for the 2009 Season. We have something special that will go up tomorrow for you to check out and hope you enjoy it. It’s been a great time putting this all together with you guys and well, we really can’t wait to get it all fired up again in 2010. We are expanding out the brand to an undisclosed location, but if you’re near it, you’ll know about it! So get out there tonight, make it count and by all means, have a drink for Martha. Cheers. Another burly Thursday here on Martha’s Vineyard but we really can’t complain. Things are starting to wind down for us as we are going to be putting the Daily What’s Up on hold starting this Saturday. Tomorrow will be the last day of your daily What’s Up?! and although it’s a bit sad, we’re already looking towards how insanely out of this world next season is going to be in 2010. Let’s just say Martha has some craziness up her sleeve! There’s a few things popping off tonight and hoping you’re on the good vibe feelings today and fighting off that chill in the air. We got Mike Hall taking off island today for his big debut down in Africa so hope you guys root him on and all that goodness! It’s been one hell of a Spring, Summer and Fall and just so damn humbled that you guys took the time and effort to hear us out, rock on with some of the best parties on the island this year and of course, live that Martha lifestyle all the way. But, while it’s still fresh, let’s get it dished out to you and release oh yes, your daily What’s Up?!

Brrr a cold Wednesday here for you guys. Sorry for the delay in the update today, but we had some issues with our server and apparently it was a global deal so man o man was that a hectic morning. We got some things hopping for you tonight and looking forward to getting out there ourselves after this day. Whew. Can’t believe the Fall has rolled in so hard here on the island and it’s pretty clear that the Summer is very very over. Such a bummer! But, there’s always a hell of a lot of hype and good vibes to be had for next year and well, that’s just how we run things around here right? Soggy Tuesday here on Martha’s Vineyard but it’s all good. We’re just getting things put away here and there and realizing that the Summer time has left us and well, the Winter awaits but have no fear, it’s just another means for Martha to do some huge things! We’re hoping you had a solid Columbus Day weekend and if you got to play hooky yesterday from work and enjoy some of the Vineyard Vibes, well, that is putting a smile on our faces just thinking about it. Other than that, we have our sponsored rider Mike Hall (kitesurfer) getting ready to shove off soon and he’s going to be missed here on the island, but it’s all for a good cause. Why? Because Mike is headed to Africa to compete in the LudeRitz Speed Challenge for kitesurfing and representing the beautiful United States of America so we’re rooting for you Mike and make some waves and of course ride that wind! So to get this going for you guys, it’s going to be a great night, a little quiet for sure, but hey, nothing better than being around good friends, good brew, drinks and of course, knowing Martha has got your back. Monday! Happy Columbus day everyone! This one goes out to the nina, pinta and santa maria! Now, who is ready to party? It’s out of this world cold today on Martha’s Vineyard. The wind is howling a bit and the ocean is looking pristine blue with that deep water chill ready to rob you of all your warmth. But not to worry, if you’re not going to be bathing it up, just know that there’s plenty of warm areas of libation to get that Fall weather kicking through your blood and that liquid love to take care of the rest! We’re going to take the afternoon to get some of the usual office stuff done and then it’s going to be a prime night in Edgartown or Oak Bluffs so you know where to get to later! Aside from that, enjoy the holiday, enjoy your island and of course, enjoy Martha. The rest is up to you. So to make this yet another informative day, here’s your daily…What’s Up!?

Sunday! Lovely Sunday! If you’re still reeling from the antics of last night, we’re with you, but if you’re headed out again tonight, well guess what, we are too! Last night was a solid turnout at both the Wharf and Shanty and we made our rounds accordingly. For all our friends out there in Oak Bluffs, we’re going to try and make it out there as well. It’s just one of those weekends when you have to hit both sides of the coin, or well Martha’s Vineyard! The weddings were in action yesterday, the brides dancing and just about everything else fell into place. We’re just missing one thing, and that’s either you, or just a little bit more of that tastiness life puts out for us all! So let’s get on it. Might be some decent wind later today for some kitesurfing so if possible, Martha & Crew will be out there, but until then, take notice, take flight, do what you do best and enjoy your daily….What’s Up!?

What’s Up For Saturday! - October 10 (Click Here)

It’s another fine Saturday on Martha’s Vineyard with the leaves starting to turn and that fall breeze billowing on in to every corner of the island. That’s nothing to worry about though, because it just means the beers are getting tastier and the whole pub party ale booze vibe is that much more potent. Everything is better in the Fall right? Well, we’ll let you decide. In the meantime, tonight is looking jam packed with things going on and for our big ups to Columbus, it’s going to be one of those epic late season nights. So put on that type of hat you know you need to have! Ahem. Consumption of beverages, hint hint. Other than that, if you’re not getting down with the nightlife scene, there’s as always, plenty of outdoor and lifestyle action to get in on so get your bags packed and hit the streets and trails/beaches whatever you have it. Why? Because no matter what, we’re on Martha’s Vineyard. So to get this dog and pony show on the road, it’s here, it’s for you and oh wait, of course, your daily….What’s Up!?

Friday, Friday Friday. It’s a great weekend to get out there on the town, get a little wet, jump in some water, drink some beers, do whatever you feel like. Why? Because this is Martha’s Vineyard, a place where rules don’t apply, people get wild, people get melllow and everything else in the middle is scooped up by the best of us! Martha has been dancing around the office for most of the morning. We’re in talks with some deliciously awesome booze people and well, the details and overall hype for WhatsUpMartha 2010 is HUGE!! We’ve got a stacked night for you and after nursing our wounds from a kitesurfing session yesterday with Mike Hall, well it’s just another magic day on the island of Martha. So get stacked up, get your party face and hit that Friday night like it’s a 8th round boxing bout! It’s here, it’s loaded up and it’s your dailiy you guessed it, What’s Up!?
