MacPhails Corner Cafe

When you’ve just jumped ship off the Chappy Ferry or found yourself awoken on a boat in Edgartown Harbor, there’s a nice corner spot that’s going to get the morning humming and well, even lunch popping! MacPhails is the spot to hit up when you’re on the move, or just plain ready to grab some thing to drink, munch, and mozy on elsewhere. You can find Martha in there stacking up on some great breakfast and then slamming away some coffee on a brisk walk to the roof top deck of the Wharf. So stop by, do what you do best and let the good times roll. It’s pretty much a given at MacPhails.

Among the Flowers Cafe

When you’re cruising through Edgartown on a pretty toasty and ocean breeze filled morning, there’s a sweet little spot to catch some R&R, coffee and of course have some eats that will surely put you you in a good place. Tucked in a nice nook of downtown Edgartown is one of Martha’s favorite places to grab a breakfast, lunch and/or simply sit patio side and sip on some mean lemonade while the world just seems to well, stroll on by. If you want a classy spot to take a date or nightly friend from before (whatever you have it) it’s definitely a great spot to do just that. The coffee is fresh as can be and the waitstaff, is nothing but spectacular. It might get a bit packed when the season is hopping, but well worth it. Rock out a crepe, take sometime to vibe the European touches and let the good times well, go on.

Mocha Mott’s

There’s really no telling where you’re going to end up on a bright sunny morning on Martha’s Vineyard, but it mostly has to do with that dangerous desire for some strong brew black velvet that pours so nicely into that ceramic or paper cup you soon cherish. Yup. We’re talking Coffee again and it has a hell of a lot to do with the infamous and of course fantastic, Mocha Mott’s. An island tradition and if anything spectacle, cruise on in the the one of two locations and stuff your face with some of the best food a cafe could offer and an array of hot and cold drinks steamed, iced, or simply squeezed right there for ya. If you know the Mott’s you know the sticker. It’s that chumba wumba looking pudgey face’d guy slapped on most of the cars, street signs and occasional well no comment. The staff are tremendous and with locations in Vineyard Haven & Oak Bluffs, you’re never too far from that mocha mott fix. So enjoy, kick back and well hey, you never know, Martha might be in line right behind you.

You’ll go nuts for Katama General if you’re ready for awesome staff, super tasty food and well, just about anything you might have forgotten and/or need while trekking through Katama or onwards to the beach! Budding right up against the road, not too far from the infamous Martha’s Vineyard Llama spectacle (Oh come on guess where!) this hot spot stop on the way to South Beach can offer you the relaxing vibes while sitting outside on the terrace chairs sipping on a coffee or munching on one of their daily treats ranging from cupcakes, scones, quiches and way way more. Martha can often be found packing one of their signature sandwiches for the road on her way to South Beach and you can bet on some of the freshest ingredients on that crunchy, wheaty, baked bread. Aside from the eats, there’s plenty to drink so stop in, see what’s there and we’ll be certain to say you’ll be glad you did. In the meantime, pack the car, bikes, backpack and don’t forget to make that crucial pitstop where it truly matters. Here.

Sweet E’s Cupcakes

Alright we all know, cupcakes have blown up in popularity. Magnolias smagmolias, if you’re looking to get down with some sweet cupcakes (no pun intended) you need to mosey on over to Sweet E’s on main street, in Vineyard Haven. The decor inside is as if you could bite into the counter and the staff are super nice with a lot spunk to get your sweet tooth raging. You can often find Martha in there getting down with a double chocolate cupcake and making her way onwards to do some shopping and cruising through Vineyard Haven. So to wrap this up and package it nicely, we highly recommend a quick trip over to set yourself up with a Sweet E’s treat. You only live once right? so make it count, one cupcake at a time.

The Bite

Well, we can’t really say this is going to be the “biggest” place to grab a sandwich or fried clams, but we can certainly say it will have the “biggest” impact on your facial muscles. Huh? We mean smile, yes smile. The bite has been cranking out some of the most tasty eats from it’s small location nestled gently along the road in Menemsha. A stone throw away from the major drag of slumping ships and barnacle ballasted boats, The Bite is hard to miss with electric Smurf blue paint covering the outside and classic picnic tables located outside for your pleasure while eating. The food is simple, the freshness off the charts and the staff, although shoved in this tiny space, are there to make your Menemsha experience all the more enjoyable.

If you’re lucky enough, or well smart enough to escape the hustle and bustle of down island Martha’s Vineyard, the town of Menemsha has a lot more to offer than epic sunsets and the smell of freshly caught fish as they’re scaled, prepared and sold within 5 feet of the boats and building. Hmm now where would we be talking about? Larsens. For the no frills, no nonsense experience of Menemsha, Larsen’s is by far one of the most classic New England establishments that “own” the New England vibe. At Larsen’s you can find Martha putting away a plate of oysters or cracking into a fiery red steamed lobster as she sits on top of a gnarled lobster pot looking out over the harbor. Simply said, if you want fresh, and you want it the “real way” there’s only one place to put yourself, and that’s at Larsen’s. So sit back, dig in, and let the magic of Menemsha be your only guide.

In the quaint town of Edgartown, you’re not going to find a steaming hot cup of Starbucks or anything like it. Instead, we highly recommend you stumble upon the beloved coffee shop & cafe known as Cafe Espresso Love. Nestled behind the courthouse off of Church Street, Cafe Espresso Love has an ambiance and outdoor dining area that is simple, clean, and full of European charm. The food and drinks are on par and the staff behind the counter is there to make sure every aspect of your visit is perfect. We highly recommend stopping by and having a sandwich, drink, perhaps some coffee to get the day going. On some early Saturday mornings, you can find Martha there, sipping away on a red-eye gearing up for a new day, and so should you!
